    Kerstin JORNA is a German national. She joined the European Commission in 1990 as a civil servant.

    During the last 20 years Kerstin held various positions in the Internal Market Directorate General, amongst others as assistant of the Director General, as well as in the Secretariat General as member of the negotiating team for the Nice treaty.

    After a stint as Commission spokeswoman for regional policy and institutional affairs, Kerstin worked in the cabinets of Michel BARNIER, Günther VERHEUGEN and Jacques BARROT.

    Since December 2012, she is Director of the Intellectual Property Directorate in the Directorate General for Internal Market and Services working under the political authority of Commissioner Michel BARNIER. She is in charge of services covering copyright, industrial property, and fight against counterfeiting and piracy. She is also member of the World Economic Forum Global Agenda Council on the Intellectual Property System.
